ORGANIZATION: Privately
held, Limited Liability Corporation
FOUNDED: 1989
TECHNOLOGY AREAS: Electro-Optics,
Laser Optics
COMPANY OVERVIEW: Laser
Atlanta designs and manufactures laser measurement systems
for professionals. Since 1989, several generations of laser
sensors have been developed for mapping, facilities management,
surveying, blast profiling, traffic monitoring, speed detection
and accident/crash scene investigation applications. The
wide variety of distance measurement, proximity measurement
and speed applications for lasers generates demand for custom
development. Laser Atlanta engineers, develops and manufactures
specialty solutions for aerospace, automotive and transportation
industries. Laser Atlanta is located in metro Atlanta, Georgia,
USA.
COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS: The
founder and several Laser Atlanta employees had their beginnings
at GEC Marconi, developing military and commercial uses for
lasers. Upon founding Laser Atlanta, the company primarily
focused on the commercial marketplace.
Laser Atlanta is the second largest supplier of lasers guns
in the markets that it serves and is first in several niche
markets. The primary market has been to the mapping community
which develops databases for organizations such as energy
supplies and municipalities. Laser Atlanta also markets to
the mining industry with open pit mines for coal or rock
aggregate. Laser products support pre-blast preparation and
volume measurement of aggregate piles. Laser Atlanta also
provides a speed laser (LIDAR) system which is used for traffic
enforcement and to map accident scenes. Other industries
served are wireless and wireline telecommunications, aviation,
transportation, sporting, military, NASA and forestry.
Sales are generated through a network of U.S. and international
dealers and manufacturer's representatives. International
sales are concentrated in Central/South America, Middle East,
U.K. and the Pacific Rim including China.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Laser
Atlanta systems have many applications and are light, portable
and rugged. The interface is user friendly and can be quickly
mastered. With a “head-up display,” users dynamically
ascertain that they measure the precise target. It interfaces
with all known Global Positioning Systems (GPS) receivers
and has worked with the Russian NavSat as well. Laser Atlanta
systems are flexible workhorses for a multitude of applications
and environments. the ship proximity system SPROX(tm) is
codefied into the US Navy and NATO doctrines.
The Advantage RO is
a range only measurement device.
The Advantage CI includes a compass
and inclinometer providing auto computations. It is compatible with most GPS
receivers and can be used for GPS offsets.
The Profiler allows
2D high rock face profile measurement for blast mining.
A SpeedLaser® which can
be used by various sports and law enforcement organizations
to ascertain vehicle speeds.
The Accident Investigation/Crash
Scene system is a combination of the SpeedLaser® and
other components to provide law enforcement with a fast
and easy means to map accident sites and see the results
at the site. Map post-processing is possible through a
variety of CAD programs.
